Transplantation

From the very beginning we heard that there is such a thing as transplantation of bone marrow: it can treat leukemia. In hospital first of all they asked Lesha if he had a brother. Lesha was afraid that they would make a transplantation and hid the existence of his brother. But they laughed at him and said "We aren't suggesting transplantation yet". Several times the doctors entered the ward, looked at the documents and asked "Is it Layfurov who is getting ready for the transplantation?" "No... and we should have noticed, right?" Lesha trembled. "Go and ask about the transplantation!" Lesha sent me to his doctor. I asked and asked again and they repeated "We don't think about transplantation now". I remember that once I asked Bubble "Why don't you want to speak about transplantation?" "He can't stand it. He is too weak. And why do you want it?" "We don't want it" "Transplantation isn't sugar, it's an extremely difficult thing" "And does he need this transplantation?" "Yes, he really needs it. He is in the high risk group. During the first remission, transplantation is prescribed" "And wouldn't it be better to make it after the recidivating? If it happens" "After recidivating there is very little gain from it" "Hmm... and will the recidivating happen without transplantation?" "No doubt about it" "And how to treat it then?" "The treatment is the same as now. From the very beginning. But it's more difficult to cause remission" "And may it happen that he won't recidivate?" "Hope dies last". These are our unhappy and uncertain conversations.

The chemotherapy was over, the bone marrow was checked, everything was OK, the spinal cord was checked... blasts. That was not good. It's necessary to irradiate. They sent him to irradiation and said "You must understand that after the irradiation we can't speak about the transplantation". Perhaps, it won't be necessary. Just save him now and thanks to God...

All the procedures were completed and a course of chemotherapy was planned. We went to hospital and suddenly... oh, my God! The doctor entered and said "Let's go to the transplantologist" "What for? Why? Already?"

Finally we found out that transplantation was necessary and it was an urgent matter. We must do it as soon as possible.

It's impossible to live for a long time without transplantation. And it's still possible for Lesha to make it.

But we need a clinic which has a great experience in non-relative transplantation, capable of good diagnostics and prevention of possible difficulties. We got in touch with a clinic in Germany, discussed the operation and received a bill for 250,000 euro. Of course, there isn't any guarantee of success. But there is still a chance to survive and recover. Now we must search for the money. This is the most serious and important stage of the process. We don't know what will happen next. Everything depends on your participation.
